Aloe Vera Juice
The General Health Benefits of Aloe Vera Juice
The juice of the aloe vera plant is used medicinally world wide, providing health benefits for boosting the immune system, treating constipation, cleansing the colon, and relieving the symptoms of acid reflux.
From a scientific standpoint, aloe vera juice has strong scientific evidence in support of its laxative properties, based on the well-established cathartic properties of anthroquinone glycosides. These positive effects are thought to be also due to the presence of additional compounds such as polysaccharides, mannans, and lectins.
The juice from the aloe leaf contains more than 200 compounds. The vitamins contained in this juice includes: vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, E, choline, and folic acid. Aloe Vera’s antioxidant activity is provided by vitamins A, C, and E. The B vitamins and choline are involved in amino acid metabolism. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are required for the production of healthy blood cells.
Not only does the juice contain all of the above vitamins, it also contains numerous minerals. The ten most important minerals in Aloe Vera juice are: calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, phosphorous, sodium, and zinc. It also contains nine out of ten of the essential amino acids, as well as alanine, asartc acid, cystine, glutamic acid, glyine, hydroxy-proline, proline, serine and tyrosine. These essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids nourish the body and strengthen it, thereby enabling it to better prevent infections.
We recommend approximately 2 to 4 ounces of aloe vera juice a day to obtain its benefits. Increase it gradually up to 8 ounces depending on your symptoms. (Please be aware that aloe vera juice, when consumed in excess may cause to abdominal cramping, diarrhea, and electrolyte imbalance. If you have severe digestive problems, check with your doctor first.)
